Anger management
Are you having issues controlling your anger?
Anger affects us all in different ways. But it can affect some more than others, with devastating effects. Do you often feel irate with your partner or a relative? Maybe you can become so full of rage you shout, lash out and want to throw something. Have you ever had thoughts of causing harm to the targets of your anger?
Feeling angry and annoyed is a regular part of being human. But if your level of anger has gone beyond what’s normal, it’s important to be aware of this and get back in control.
Irregular or poorly controlled anger can cause additional issues. What we know and experience as anger is a higher level of adrenaline, which triggers physiological reactions including a quickened heartbeat, and raised temperature. This is an intense reaction our bodies go through, and prolonged or frequent exposure to it can lead to serious physical and mental health problems. These include high blood pressure, poor immune systems, depression, anxiety and more.
Beyond our own health, anger can also wreak havoc on those around us. Anger-fuelled outbursts can cause strain on personal relationships and even those in the workplace. This vicious cycle causes further grief and can even put us and our loved ones in danger.
If you’re concerned that your anger negatively affects you or those around you, it might be time to consider anger management therapy.
